# Delete your chatbot

> Permanently remove a chatbot, or find a gentler alternative.

Deleting a chatbot permanently removes its trained content, conversations,
leads, and settings. There is no undo and no recovery.

## Before you delete

Check whether one of these fits better:

* **Taking it offline temporarily?** Remove the embed snippet from your
  site. The chatbot and its data stay intact, ready to re-embed later.
* **Keeping records?** Export what you need first: CSV exports exist for
  [chat history](/docs/navigating-your-chatbot/chat-history),
  [leads](/docs/navigating-your-chatbot/leads), and your
  [content lists](/docs/content/overview#managing-your-content).
* **Handing it to someone else?** Contact
  [support@sitegpt.ai](mailto:support@sitegpt.ai) about transferring
  ownership instead.

## Delete the chatbot

    In the chatbot's sidebar under **Advanced**, open **Settings**.

  <Step title="Scroll to the bottom">
    Select **Delete Chatbot** and confirm.
  </Step>

The widget stops answering immediately wherever it is still embedded, and
the chatbot's quota usage is freed.

## Deleting your whole account

Email [support@sitegpt.ai](mailto:support@sitegpt.ai) from your account
address and we will remove the account and its data. If you have an active
subscription, cancel it in **Billing** first so you are not charged again.
